EyePrint Pro Lenses

EyePrint Pro Lenses

EyePrint Pro™ is a revolutionary solution designed for patients who are extremely visually impaired due to corneal disease and irregularities, like keratoconus, and who have not found success with other treatment options. At Keratoconus Specialist of MD, we utilize EyePrint Pro™ to provide our patients with the best possible vision and restore their quality of life.

EyePrint Pro™ is a prosthetic scleral cover shell that improves vision by creating a new, smooth, refractive surface for the eye. Unlike traditional contact lenses, EyePrint Pro™ is not limited by standard fabrication methods, allowing it to match the exact contour of any eye, even in the most challenging conditions.

Developed by Dr. Christine Sindt at the University of Iowa, in collaboration with Keith Parker at Advanced Vision Technologies in Denver, Colorado, EyePrint Pro™ is made from a high oxygen permeable material with superior quality optics. As the first practice in the state of Maryland to offer EyePrint Pro, Keratoconus Specialist of MD boasts many years of experience in providing this innovative technology to our patients.

How EyePrint Pro Works

EyePrint Pro™ is a prosthetic scleral lens designed for patients with advanced keratoconus and other irregular corneas. Unlike “general” scleral lenses, which use a series of standard curvatures, EyePrint Pro™ is generated from an impression of the ocular surface. This impression captures the exact contour and irregularities of the individual eye, allowing for a precise fit and high-quality, individualized optics on the front surface of the device.

How is EyePrint PRO different from a Scleral Lens?

The Difference Between EyePrint Pro and Scleral Lenses

While EyePrint Pro is similar to a scleral lens in that it is made from FDA-approved oxygen permeable materials and vaults the cornea while landing on the sclera, the design process sets it apart. General scleral lenses are fitted through trial and error with prefabricated lenses, while Precision Vision Rehabilitation (PVR) PROSE Treatment offers semi-customized curvatures and lenses. EyePrint Pro, however, is made from an impression of the ocular surface, similar to a dental molding. This ensures an exact match to the unique irregularities of the individual eye, allowing for precise back surface fit and customized optics.

Benefits of EyePrint Pro

EyePrint Pro™ is an excellent option for patients with advanced keratoconus who have been uncomfortable or unsuccessful with other hybrid or scleral contact lenses, including PVR PROSE Treatment. The exact fit provided by EyePrint Pro™ offers great comfort and vision, reducing frustration and lost time from work while enhancing the patient’s quality of life.
