Keratoconus Technology for the Best Treatment
At Keratoconus Specialists of Maryland, we pride ourselves on utilizing cutting-edge technology to provide the best possible care for our patients. Our advanced equipment and innovative treatments ensure precise diagnostics and effective management of keratoconus. Here’s a look at some of the state-of-the-art technology we use in our practice:
Keratoconus Instrumentation
Corneal Wavefront Topography
This advanced technology maps the cornea’s surface, allowing for detailed analysis and customized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
Keratograph® 5M
A comprehensive tool for the diagnosis and management of keratoconus, the Keratograph® 5M provides high-resolution images and precise measurements to monitor the condition effectively.
Zeiss Visante Topographer and Anterior Segment OCT System
Designed specifically for keratoconus diagnosis and management, this system offers detailed imaging of the cornea and anterior segment, aiding in accurate diagnosis and monitoring.
Specular Microscopy
This technology allows us to examine the corneal endothelium, providing critical information about cell density and health, which is essential for managing keratoconus and planning treatments.
Huvitz HOA Aberrometer and Ovitz HOA Aberrator
These devices measure higher-order aberrations (HOAs) in the eye, which can affect vision quality. By precisely identifying and correcting these aberrations, we can significantly improve visual outcomes for our patients.
Keratoconus Contact Lenses
We offer a range of advanced lens technologies to provide optimal vision correction for keratoconus patients, including:
Synergize Hybrid Lenses – a combination of a soft lens with the center of and RGP keratoconus lens –giving the comfort of a soft lens, with the optics\vision of the RGP design.
Custom Scleral Lenses – large diameter lens that vaults the cornea and rests on the sclera. With new keratoconus contact lens materials these lenses are very comfortable and can provide superior optics to both RGP and hybrid keratoconus lenses.
PVR PROSE – is a prosthetic device similar to scleral lenses, which uses fluid to replace and smooth-out the ocular surface. These keratoconus contact lenses are designed and customized utilizing Optical Coherence Tomography OCT and Wavefront Higher Order Aberrations (HOA) technology to correct glare, halos, starburst, ghosting, and other vision distortions.
EyePrint PRO – a prosthetic scleral device, which designed to match the exact shape of the cornea using a molding process.
Keratoconus Surgical Procedures
Surgical Collaborations When necessary, we collaborate with leading keratoconus surgeons to offer FDA-approved treatments such as:
At Keratoconus Specialists of Maryland, we are committed to providing the highest level of care using the most advanced technology available. This commitment ensures our patients receive precise diagnostics, effective treatments, and the best possible outcomes.
